Biography

Brian Rice, artist and printmaker, was born in Somerset. He studied at Yeovil School of Art in the early 1950s. He then taught art at Brighton Art College part time for a period of 35 years. His prints of the 1960s and early 1970s were often urban images but in later years his prints became influenced by mans prescence in the landscape. He moved back to the West Country in the 1970s. He has exhibited widely, with a retrospective of his work held in Brighton in 2001. His work is held in many collections such at the Government Art Collection and the Tate Gallery, who purchased several of his prints in 2003.
For full information see catalogue of his work "Brian Rice - Retrospective Exhibition" published in 2001 University of Brighton (isbn 1 901177 96 3)
