Richard Vicary

The artist Richard Vicary was born in Sutton, Surrey in 1918. He trained at Tunbridge Wells School of Art (1935-36) and then Medway School of Art until 1939. Folllowing the war he took his teaching Diploma at Brighton. He taught at Epsom and Ewell School of Art from 1948-1950 before he became Head of Printmaking and Graphics at Shrewsbury School of Art from 1950 to 1972. He always had a special interest in lithography and wrote "Manual of Lithography" and "Manual of Advanced Lithography" published in the 1970s by Thames and Hudson. He has held several one man exhibitions and shown regularly with the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers and the Royal West of England Academy.
